Making the Switch – Write Now Editing!

July 30, 2018 by Karin Beery Leave a Comment

If you want to succeed in business, it’s important to know your audience – who are they, what do they want, and how can you help them. As their needs change, you have a choice to make – change with them or let them find someone else who will help them.

For the past several months I’ve been noticing the changing tide. Fewer people contact me regarding content writing. More people want to know about book writing and fiction editing. Roughly 80% of my income now comes from editing, teaching, and other book-related work … so what does it mean for Write Now Editing & Copywriting Services?

Good-bye “Copywriting Services,” and welcome to Write Now Editing!

That doesn’t mean I’ll never be available to write content for anyone, nor does it mean I’ll stop helping businesses and organizations create more effective copy, but I need to connect with my clients, and those clients are currently in the fiction-writing realm.

What does that mean for this blog?

There will still be social media and design tips (thank you Leslie Krukowski and Sierra Kellermeyer!) because authors need to know those things too! But you’ll notice a difference in the rest of the content – not as much business writing and more emphasis on fiction writing and editing.

I had planned on making this switch later in the year/early next year, but my first novel releases September 1, so I feel like this is the time to transition. It’s going to be a gradual transition; you may have already noticed some of the new tabs and updated links on the page. By the end of the year, the blog will fully convert and new fiction-focused resources will be available.

I’m addicted to content writing, though, so you’ll still find me tweeting about it and sharing some of my favorite tips on LinkedIn. And just because you won’t necessarily find me writing about it here, your questions are always encouraged! If I can’t help you, I’ll find someone who can.

So, here’s to the transition – moving toward my original passion (fiction) while embracing my love of helping others (editing and teaching!). Welcome to Write Now Editing: Editor. Teacher. Speaker.

When In Doubt – Read!

November 17, 2015 by Karin Beery Leave a Comment

Every now and then I miss a blog post. This week was one of those weeks. Instead of trying to whip something together, I thought I’d share some book reviews with you. You can find the originals at www.karinbeery.com.

bones will speakForensic artist Gwen Marcey has become the target of a serial killer who believes he’s been appointed God’s executioner.

In Copper Creek, Montana, Gwen Marcey is struggling to put together her life after cancer and divorce. When her dog retrieves a skull of a murder victim and leads her to the victim’s grave, Gwen uses her forensic art ability to identify a serial killer. She is horrified to discover all the victims look like her fourteen-year-old daughter.

The murderer is a “lone wolf,” a member of the terrorist group Phineas Priesthood-and he has a score to settle with Gwen. Unraveling the tangled Christian Identity movement, where race-not grace-provides salvation, Gwen is in a frantic rush against time. She must use all her skills to uncover the killer before he can carry out his threat to destroy her and everyone she loves.

PrisonSonja Grey, a narcotics detective, and her nemesis, Max Trent, are handpicked to go undercover to capture a thug—Johnny Stone, aka Rock—who’s dealing drugs at Sonja’s church. Their operation is unwittingly aided by the interference of Sonja’s eccentric aunties. For Max, this assignment has two objectives: get their villain and capture Sonja’s heart. Will Sonja break free of the shackles of her past and embrace Max’s love, or will they be destroyed by danger?

Falling Like SnowflakesWhen the Christmas season finds Eden in Summer Harbor, Maine, she’s on the run from trouble. Romance is the last thing on her mind.

Riding in a bus in the thickly falling snow, Eden Davis wonders how it ever came to this-fleeing under cover of night with young Micah sleeping fitfully in the seat beside her. When a winter storm strands them in Summer Harbor, Maine, Eden wonders if what might have been the end could be a new beginning.

Beau Callahan is a habitual problem-solver. He’s recently left his job with the sheriff’s department to take over the family Christmas tree farm to save it from insolvency. But he’s flummoxed. During the busiest season of the year, he’s shorthanded. Then Eden shows up looking for work, and Beau believes he’s been rescued. Competent, smart, and beautiful, Eden’s also guarded and quiet. He soon figures out she comes with a boatload of secrets. But Beau can’t seem to help himself from falling for her.

As Christmas Eve approaches, Beau discovers he’ll do anything to keep Eden safe. But who’s going to protect his heart from a woman who can’t seem to trust again?

I’ll be posting weekly to each (Mondays here, Wednesdays there). At KarinBeery.com, you’ll read about fiction-related and Karin-related topics. Here, I’m going to focus more on copywriting, editing, and the business side of both. Here’s what you can expect every Monday on this blog:

Interviews with writing/editing professionals
Freelance business tips
Guest posts by other writers and editors
Copywriting and editing tips
Anything else business, leadership, and/or writing and editing relate

My first official post will appear Monday, July 6. To celebrate the launch, I’ll be giving away goodies all month! I have a whole stash of things I’ve been holding on to for this very occasion, and I can’t wait to share my treats with you!

So stop by every week for tricks, trade secrets, and good old-fashioned writing – see you then!
